Australian Cone Trucks must comply with national safety standards and traffic management regulations, including the Austroads Temporary Traffic Management guidelines (AP‑G105‑23) for incident response vehicles. They also need to meet vehicle-specific engineering standards such as AS4100, AS1644.1, and retroreflective material requirements under AS/NZS 1906.1:2017 for traffic cones.
Is GPS tracking included with Cone Truck hire?
Many modern Cone Trucks come equipped with real-time GPS tracking, which enhances fleet visibility and allows for more efficient traffic control operations. This tracking capability also helps improve safety monitoring and enables better project management on active worksites.
What is a Cone Truck and how is it used in traffic management?
A Cone Truck, also known as a Traffic Management Implementation Vehicle (TMIV), is a purpose-built vehicle used to quickly deploy and collect traffic control equipment such as cones, signs, and barrier boards. These vehicles are essential for safely setting up and removing temporary traffic control layouts on roads, highways, and construction sites.
What types of projects typically require Cone Truck hire?
Cone Trucks are commonly hired for road construction, civil infrastructure projects, utility works, emergency road repairs, and long-distance highway upgrades. Any project that involves lane closures or traffic redirection will benefit from using a Cone Truck to improve setup efficiency and worker safety.
How many cones and signs can a Cone Truck carry?
Trafquip’s Cone Trucks are built to carry up to 300 cones, multiple traffic signs, arrowboards, and other essential safety gear. They are designed to reduce manual handling and allow quick, efficient setup from either side of the vehicle, which is especially useful on live roads.
Do I need a certified operator to use a Cone Truck?
